Happy Wednesday!
I know it had been a while… WAAAY too long in fact! Since I have been on here, I have been working on a couple of projects for work to include lots of paperwork.

We were closed here at the shop this most recent Monday for Independence Day. I hope everyone had a great and safe fun filled day! I know I did! Back to work yesterday to finish some filing and crunching of numbers on some PDR Invoices and Estimates. In the last couple of weeks we have had a lot of estimates come through our doors. Today we had a couple hail estimates. And a couple regular door dings.

Hope everyone had a great weekend and hope those of you in the Colorado springs are enjoying this very murky beginning to the week.

Last week was a pretty good week here at the shop and we all had plenty to do ! which is an awesome feeling! Last week was mostly appointments and estimates and body shop work! Our technicians were working like crazy, as usual, and I think they prefer it that way J I know that there have been some threatening thunderstorms recently, making a lot of rumblings- did you get hit with any hail? Last , I posted the seven questions that you should ask us, or anyone, before you agree to let us take care of your car. After all it is YOUR car.

Today I thought we would go over a couple talking points for your next visit with us- not so much questions as, things we would like you to know.

If someone asks you whether you know what the definition of paintless dent repair is-read on and then you can say “yepp”-

Paintless Dent Repair is the process of repairing minor dents, door dings and hail damage without affecting or harming the factory painted finish on your vehicle.

There- now you know, it really is a very simple thing isn’t it? It is illegal for an Insurance company to steer you towards any certain repair shops. The only reason they would recommend certain shops is that they receive discounts on hourly rates. HMO for your car…..the second largest investment most of us make next to home purchase.

The week is almost over!!!

And it has been a scorcher!!! Busy busy week here though for our techs!!! They have been working like crazy eight hours or more a day! I am sure they are ready for this weekend! The week is definitely cooling down though, and this weekend is looking great!

In the shop this week we have had quite the range of damage, from very severe hail damage to minor dings. The hail is getting bad out there folks so remember when u get outside after that big storm- 1800dingguy, our name is our number!

I am going to post the questions you should ask us when you bring your car in! you deserve the respect of knowing everthing that is ging on with your vehicle in the PDR process.these questions will help you know what our talented technicians do, and why PDR is really quite an art – reshaping metal-reforming it to create the clean look on any vehicle? Amazing!

QUESTIONS TO ASK 1800DINGGUY!!!-

1-How much experience does the technician have who will repair the dents on my car?

A very fair and legitimate question, all of our technicians are highly trained and go thru a period where they apprentice our “veteran” technicians in the business.

2-Does your company drill holes to access the dents most of the time?

Sometimes-yes. When it is not necessary we do not, some companies almost always do, and to top it off they do it without telling you. If we need to we will tell you and inform you of the whole process if you ask.

3-Will you use corrosion protection?

The process used in our PDR is corrosion protection.
4-Is there a concern my paint might crack?

If the damage on your car is deep or creased one of our technicians will be sure to do their best to maintain the integrity of the paint, while the repair is being done and the metal is reshaped. Sometimes technicians will use a heat source to assure that the paint will be as flexible as possible so it moves along with the metal as it is reshaped back into pre-damaged condition.

5-How long should the repairs take?

For door dings and minor single dents most repairs can be completed in an hour or so.

More severe dents that are large, about the size of a basketball, could take several hours.

Hail damage can take several days. For hail damage there is a lot more work to be considered when estimating time, a lot more parts on the vehicle need to be taken apart then put back together.

This is also all a case by case basis, a lot of times it depends also on the sharpness and severity of the dent. So please when you come in- just ask and we will give you our best estimate on time

6-Does my insurance cover PDR repairs, and will you work with my insurance?

Yes and Yes! Depending on your coverage, if you have hail coverage or full coverage- and we are more than happy to handle insurance for you!— however check with your insurance on the deductible and claim cost, because in most minor damage cases- the deductible is greater than what it would cost if we just repaired it.

7-Do you offer a guarantee?

This is James The Ding Guy. My sons Jesse and Dakota are with me on this trip and I am so greatful to be working with them. Dakota and Jesse are both apprenticing in the art of Paintless Dent Repair and is is going really well. They have both been around this work their whole lives so to see them taking a genuine interest and applying themselves make their old man proud.

We are working at a Carstar Collision shop called Walts. It is a very well ran shop with a well respected kick ass manager named Wade. This guy is a trip and he gets the most out of his people. We have been writing our own hail damage estimates. It is amazing how little insurance companies know about writing proper estimates for this type of damage. The way you estimate hail damage is by doing an accurate count and sizing of hail dents then using a simple chart to cross reference the numbers and it gives you a price. Simple right? Nope not for some. I am certain that in a situation where there are so many claims the adjusters just need to get a claim rolling so they just put numbers to the claims to get the “paper work”  rolling so guys like me can fine tune the estimates for a proper repair.

Going to see a roller derby bout tonight with the boys, my first! Should be fun! Have a great day!

Hope everyone has had a great week and I hope you have a happy and safe weekend. I am so sorry that I haven’t been on here every day this past week, we have had a lot of estimates come in. We have done estimates on hail damage, standard door dings and even some pretty good body damage. Its been really cool for me this past week I have been able to do all sorts of varying estimates on cars here in Colorado Springs.

Today is a pretty slow day in the shop, however this past week has been very very busy!!! Yay!! Lots of work to be done, I did a lot of estimates as well as our technicians Jake and Collin. James is away working with a body shop in another state to help them with the overwhelming Hail repairs. Here we are getting lots of hail repairs from the eastern portion of Colorado Springs out thru Peyton and more. But the windy days have also brought in a lot of door dings, wind speed reached 60mph in portions of El Paso and other counties, so don’t be surprised if you look at your vehicle and see a door ding- most likely an unfortunate result of a rogue car door.

Also don’t forget that we can repair windshield chips, we actually right now are repairing windshield chips on a customer’s minivan. Hello everyone!!

Happy Friday! Memorial weekend is upon us, hope everyone enjoys their holiday and pays their respects.

This past week in the shop has been pretty hectic but in a very good way

James has done repairs to hail damaged vehicles as well as the standard ding and dent. We have had cars in the shop everyday this week! And I have been doing estimates everyday! Its very exciting because I keep learning a little more everyday and my knowledge of Paintless dent repair is growing!

We don’t want you to forget either that we also do windshield chip repair. There have already been hail storms and some rather frightening weather reports this season, reports of severe hail and some tornadoes touching down within Colorado Springs City limits. That not even mentioning the outer plains and areas that have already been hit relatively hard by some hail and winds.
